Variable Speed Cone Pulleys

Cone-pulleys for the same purpose as 8. This motion is used in cotton machinery, and in all machines which are required to run with a gradually increased or diminished speed.

Only the input is driven; every other part of this model moves by physics (MuJoCo), and its ratios are measured. Run it live, change its parameters, or switch the friction off to see the output stop.

Modelled as
band (friction; 120-link flat band on two opposed straight cones, collided as stacks of frustum hulls via profile:; no fork, as in the plate)
Measured
band at y −8 1.508, plate 1.0 0.995, +8 0.649 (radii at the band's resting line 1.50 / 1.00 / 0.62); μ≈0 control 0.000 in all three
Notes
Only the upper shaft is motor-driven. The band's station is a passive variant (all three tested, `test_009_band_traversed_along_the_cones_varies_the_speed`).
