Drag-link motion

Drag-link motion. Circular motion is transmitted from one crank to the other.

Only the input is driven; every other part of this model moves by physics (MuJoCo), and its ratios are measured. Run it live, change its parameters, or switch the friction off to see the output stop.

Modelled as
Two parallel shafts whose axes are 2 apart (the fixed link, the shortest), gravity on. The driving shaft carries a crank of 6, the driven shaft a crank of 7; a link of 6 turns on the driving crank's pin and is pinned to the driven crank's. With the shortest link fixed both cranks turn right round (Grashof: 2 + 7 <= 6 + 6). Only the driving shaft is driven (30 rpm).
Measured
The driven crank turns once to each turn of the driver (ratio 1.0001) but unevenly: slice means over eighths of a turn run 0.718..1.417 against the kinematic 0.716..1.408 (instantaneous 0.698..1.501). No penetration (the link is pinned; no contact carries the motion).
Notes
The plate gives no sizes; the offset, crank and link lengths are chosen to satisfy the drag-link condition with a clear variation in speed.
