A mode of driving a pair of feed-rolls, the opposite surfaces of which require to move in the same direction. The two wheels are precisely similar, and both gear into the endless screw which is arranged between them. The teeth of one wheel only are visible, those of the other being on the back or side which is concealed from view.

Only the input is driven; every other part of this model moves by physics (MuJoCo), and its ratios are measured. Run it live, change its parameters, or switch the friction off to see the output stop.

Modelled as
No. 31s worm (single right-hand thread, 3 turns, pitch radius 1.6, 72 loft segments) lying between two identical 30-tooth worm-wheels (module 0.5) on fixed shafts 9.1 above and below it. The thread advances the same way top and bottom, so the wheels turn in opposite senses; a feed-roll of radius 9.05 behind each wheel on its shaft meets the other at the worms level, their facing surfaces moving the same way. gen195.py.
Measured
Upper wheel 0.0333, lower -0.0333 (kinematic +-1/30); lower follows upper with slope -1.0000, r2 0.9999; penetration 0.01 mm.
Notes
Both wheels in one plane, the lower set at the same tooth phase (it meets the thread without a jump).
