Another simple form of the epicyclic train, in which the arm, D, carries a pinion, B, which gears both with a spur-wheel, A, and an annular wheel, C, both concentric with the axis of the arm. Either of the wheels, A, C, may be stationary, and the revolution of the arm and pinion will give motion to the other wheel.

Only the input is driven; every other part of this model moves by physics (MuJoCo), and its ratios are measured. Run it live, change its parameters, or switch the friction off to see the output stop.

Modelled as
Seen face on, as Brown. Straight-flanked part teeth: the spur wheel A (12 teeth) on the centre, the pinion B (12) loose on the arm D, and the annular wheel C (36 internal teeth) concentric with A, here held fast. The arm D is turned on the centre at a steady 8 rpm - the only input; B gears with both A and C.
Measured
B rolls round inside the fixed C and drives A: A turns 4.00 times as fast as the arm, the same way, and B -3.00 times on the arm, as the train gives (1 + 36/12).
Notes
Brown lets either A or C be the stationary wheel; this build holds C. The teeth are straight-flanked part teeth rather than Brown's drawn involutes; no frame is shown, as in Brown.
