Gasometer

Gasometer. The open-bottomed vessel, A, is arranged in the tank, B, of water, and partly counterbalanced by weights, C, C. Gas enters the gasometer by one and leaves it by the other of the two pipes inserted through the bottom of the tank. As gas enters, vessel, A, rises, and vice versa. The pressure is regulated by adding to or reducing the weights, C, C.

Only the input is driven; every other part of this model moves by physics (MuJoCo), and its ratios are measured. Run it live, change its parameters, or switch the friction off to see the output stop.

Modelled as
Seen from in front, the tank cut away in half section, gravity on. A bell (34 cm across, open at the bottom) stands in a tank of water and is partly counterweighted by two weights on chains over pulleys. The gas works' supply (600 Pa gauge through 0.7 cm²) is the input; the gas under the bell is a lumped gas vessel and leaves through 1.6 cm² to the burners by a cock that is swung slowly open and shut.
Measured
The bell rises and falls about 1.9 cm as the burners' draw changes, and holds the gas at about 220 Pa. The water inside the bell stands about 2.3 cm below the water outside. The water and the gas are drawn from the sim state. The motion gate passes.
Notes
Grade B. The bell's motion is small (to scale). The gate's WARN for 71% unexplained motion comes from the water's surface following the bell. Swinging the cock stands in for a changing number of burners.
