A means of giving one complete revolution to the crank of an engine to each stroke of the piston.
Only the input is driven; every other part of this model moves by physics (MuJoCo), and its ratios are measured. Run it live, change its parameters, or switch the friction off to see the output stop.
Modelled as
A crank (the one driven joint, 24 rpm) turns in a standard; a 11 cm rod from its 3 cm crank-pin works a slider in a vertical slot 6.4 cm to one side (the dashed circle of the figure is the pin path). Pin joint at the slider, no gravity. gen175.py.
Measured
The slider follows the crank at -0.0301 m/rad (kinematic -0.0303) and +0.0464 m/rad (+0.0469), r2 0.9996; slider stroke -6.5..+1.1 cm (7.7 cm), one up and one down stroke per crank turn; penetration 0.
Notes
Reading of the figure: the rod drawn is shorter than the slot-to-far-side distance of the crank-pin circle, so the crank cannot go round as drawn; the rod is lengthened (11 cm for a 3 cm crank) so it can. The crank is the input; no piston-driven flywheel version.
